Barons Produce First Professional Player

For most, it’s just a dream.  For some, it’s a missed opportunity.  But for the select few, it’s the chance of a lifetime.  To say, “I play baseball” and not to just mean on Sundays or on X-Box.

The Barons have had many great players over the years, some of who could be considered “All-Time” league players. There have even been several players spending weeks in camps in Georgia or Florida to make it to that next level, each time returning home determined to “get there next year”.

None have compared to the pitching prowess of Jersey Baron Aaron Kalb.  Kalb, affectionately known as AK-47, has become the first Baron to be signed to a minor league contract.  Starting May 29th, AK-47 will join the Saint George Roadrunners of the Golden Baseball League in Utah.

Aaron came to the Barons in the fall of 2006 and was a driving force in their Mel Ott fall championship run posting a 4-1 record with a 1.29 ERA in 35 innings and averaging 11 Strikeouts per outing.  Kalb not only helped bring home the championship hardware but easily attained the league CY Young Award as well.

Aaron will continue to incorporate his fastball (which can top out at 92 mph), vicious curveball, slider and changeup until he leaves for Utah.

Manager Phil Barone has been assured that should Kalb’s career with the Roadrunners end, he will be back to wreak havoc with the Barons once again.  Although appreciative of this promise, Barone was quoted as saying “This kid’s career is taking off, I don’t expect to see him at this level again.”

The entire Barons family wishes Aaron Kalb the best of luck and is confident in his future success.

Go Barons!
