The Jersey Barons Baseball Club are bringing a full squad of volunteers to the 2008 Spring Beach Sweep along the scenic shores of Raritan Bay, a stones throw from the Baron home field within Raritan Bay Waterfront Park on Saturday, April 26th, 2008.
Sponsored by the Middlesex County Conservation Corps and Clean Ocean Action, a leading national and regional voice working to protect waterways based in Sandy Hook, the clean-up project is an annual event that removes enough trash and debris from the beach to completely fill up the bed of a County pick-up truck. Barons players, friends, and family will spend a few hours on the beach to help the tremendous efforts of Rick Lear and his Conservation Corps, and improve the conditions at their beloved home park.
Check-in and light refreshments begin at 9:00 am. Barons players: dress appropriately for cool weather, we'll be right on the ocean. Water, work gloves, and snacks are recommended to carry while you walk along the shore. All Barons participants must fill out a Volunteer Agreement/Release form – please get this in to team management promptly.
The Jersey Barons believe in giving back to the community where we live, work, and play ball in, and are happy to take part in the 2008 Spring Beach Sweep !
This project will be the first of two community service events the Barons will partake in 2008.
